Who Can Make Application
A) Among high school graduates or high school final year students, ones who have the following qualifications are eligible to apply:

• Ones who are foreign national
• Ones who were natively Turkish citizen but later abandoned their Turkish citizenship by permission from Ministry of Interior; and their children who were registered on the abandonment document and can certify that they have the Certification Regarding Enjoyment of the Rights Given by Law No.5203
• Ones who were natively foreign national but later obtained dual nationality by obtaining Turkish citizenship
• Ones who are Turkish citizen and have completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country except TRNC
• Ones who are TRNC citizen and have completed their entire high school education in TRNC, and have GCE A level result

B)Ones who have the following qualifications are not eligible to apply:

• Ones who are Turkish citizen (except the ones who have completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country except TRNC)
• Ones who are TRNC citizen (except the ones who have completed their entire high school education in TRNC and have GCE A level result)
• Ones who have dual nationality one of which is Turkish citizenship (except the ones who have completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country except TRNC)
• Ones who have dual nationality one of which is TRNC citizenship (except the ones who have completed their entire high school education in TRNC and have GCE A level result)
• Ones who are Turkish citizen and have completed their high school education in TRNC

Exam Results that are Submitted for Application (For Undergraduate)
The applicants should fulfill the condition of getting the following national or international exam results or should get 50 from İstanbul Arel University’s exam
International Test Results:

• SAT  – Minimum total score: 1000
• ACT - Minimum score: 21
• ABITUR - Minimum score: 4
• IB (International Baccalaureate) : 24
• YÖS (Basic Skills) : 40
• GCE(General Certificate Examination) A Level : 2 courses
• GCE( General Certificate Examination)O Level : 4 courses
• Tubitak Olympic Medal

National Test Results

Note:

• Validity period for high school graduation exams (Abitur, International Baccalaureate, GCE,  etc) is infinite;
• Validity period for university entrance exams (SAT, YÖS, etc) is two years.

Necessary Documents For Application (For Undergraduate)
The following documents must be submitted for application:                

• Applicants are required to fill in the Application Form
• Notarized copy of high school diploma (“Equivalence Certificate” which proves that the applicant’s high school diploma is equivalent to Turkish high school diplomas will be required in the registration period. “Equivalence Certificate” can be obtained from T.R. Ministry of National Education or from the Turkish Embassy in the applicant’s country.
• Applicants should provide and submit YÖS(Examination for foreign students)record or another exam record if any the national exam in their country)
• Official transcript - Official transcript which shows the applicant’s high school courses and grades must be certified by the High School Headship and submitted to the University in a sealed envelope. If the transcript is not in English or Turkish, a translated (to English or Turkish) and certified copy of it must also be submitted together with the original transcript.
• A copy of passport
• Applicants should have a bank account which proves he can support his education during his study period in Turkey

Language of Instruction
At the beginning of every academic year, English Proficiency Exam (ARELEPE) is applied in order to test the English knowledge level of new students (including foreign students) who are registered in departments/programs where language of instruction is English and attending preparatory class is obligatory.

Students who succeed in ARELEPE and students who succeed in international exams equivalence of which is acknowledged by Council of Higher Education and the University (TOEFL minimum score 173; IELTS minimum score 6; FCE minimum score C) gain the right to start their education in their department/program without having to attend preparatory class.

Students who do not take AREL English Proficiency Exam or students who do not succeed in the Exam are enrolled in English preparatory program. Students who can not succeed in the English preparatory program for two consecutive years are dismissed from the University.

Turkish knowledge level of foreign students who are registered in departments/programs where language of instruction is Turkish is tested by an exam applied by a jury assigned by University Senate. Students whose Turkish knowledge level is not found to be sufficient need to first succeed in a Turkish language course organized by a University or TÖMER in order to start their education in their department/program.

Master’s Programs:
a) Having a 4-year Bachelor's degree. Notarized copy of the Bachelor's diploma
b) Having a minimum score of 55 in ALES (Graduate Education Entrance Exam in Turkey) in the score type of the master’s program applied for, or having an equivalent score determined by Turkish Council of Higher Education in GMAT or GRE
c) Transcript of records
d) 3 passport-type photos in color (4,5 x 6 cm.)
e) Filling out Istanbul Arel University Master’s Program Application Form
f) Bank receipt showing that the application fee (100 TL) has been deposited (only for applications for the Psychology Program)

- Students who do not have an ALES score can be admitted to graduate programs with “guest student” status on condition that they take the first ALES exam within the following semester and get the required score.
- Application for the Graphic Design Program does not require to have an ALES score. Ones who have an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts or in another field can apply for the Graphic Design Program.    
- Ones who are about to graduate can submit their certified transcript of records instead of the diploma. Equivalence certificate is required for the diplomas obtained abroad.

 

Doctoral Programs:
a) Having a Master’s degree
b) Having a minimum score of 55 in ALES (Graduate Education Entrance Exam in Turkey) in the score type of the doctoral program applied for, or having an equivalent score determined by Turkish Council of Higher Education in GMAT or GRE
c) Having a minimum score of 55 in ÜDS (Interuniversity Board Foreign Language Examination in Turkey) in the score type of the doctoral program applied for, or having an equivalent score in an international foreign language test accepted by the Interuniversity Board
d) Transcript of records
e) 3 passport-type photos in color (4,5 x 6 cm.)
f) Filling out Istanbul Arel University Doctoral Program Application Form
g) Bank receipt showing that the application fee (100 TL) has been deposited (only for applications for the Psychology Program)

Foreign Citizens
Master’s Programs:

b)Foreign Applicants are not required to submit Ales,GRE,GMAT exam scores,however having a valid GRE/GMAT score will be a plus in preference.
