General Information

The Department of Principles of Ataturk and the History of the Turkish Revolution, which has been established within the structure of the Rectorate, carries out educational activities in the field. The principles of Ataturk and the history of the Turkish revolution course is compulsory in accordance with the Higher Education Law no. 2547 Article 5/i and given via Distance Education System.

The Department of Principles of Ataturk and the History of the Turkish Revolution aims to contribute to Istanbul Arel University students becoming good citizens by ensuring that they embrace Ataturk’s system of thought. The Department aims to create a generation that is devoted to the principles and reforms of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

The principles of Ataturk and the history of the Turkish revolution course is given as a common course for two semesters in the first year. Within the course, which aims to teach and spread the principles and reforms of Atatürk, the process of modernisation is discussed as a whole in the context of a causality relationship. This process is studied within the scope of political, economic and social transformations that have occurred since the end of the 19th century. In this course, the principles and reforms of Ataturk are studied and discussed in a historical context together with social transformations. Furthermore, the course is aimed to be used and evaluated as a source for history research and to educate students in the subjects of research methods and analysis.
