BASE, the new art exposition of Turkey, is a platform that unites young talents from all around Turkey. This year, BASE received 1137 applications from 65 universities. Sena Kösealioğlu, Istanbul Arel University’s Department of Visual Communication Design graduate, was among the applicants whose works were selected to be a part of the exhibition.

The project meeting for the ERASMUS+ KA107 International Credit Mobility (ICM) Program took place on 12 and 13 December 2018.
Hosted by Istanbul Arel University this year, the Lake Cup will be held for the third time.
Three teams will compete in this year’s cup, which will be organised on 7-8-9 September 2018 at the Gazanfer Bilge Sports Hall. Entry to the matches is free. The matches will also be broadcasted live on Istanbul Arel University’s official YouTube channel.

Seda Karateke, lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science made a presentation titled “On Certain Modified Dunkle Generalization of Szász-beta Type Operators” at the IX. Jaén Conference on Approximation Theory organised in Spain by the University of Jaén between 8-13 July 2018.
Istanbul Arel University represented Turkey in the 3X3 basketball category of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Games. The EUSA Games, organised for the 15th time this year, were held between 14-19 July 2018 in Coimbra, Portugal. Istanbul Arel University won Group C, which consisted of teams from Israel, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Germany, Spain and Portugal. The Istanbul Arel University 3X3 basketball team then went on to win the second round, quarter finals and second finals and ultimately came in third place, winning the bronze medal.
Lect. Leyla ÖZYOL of the Faculty of Communication was invited to Yale University to deliver a presentation at the 15th Annual Yale Bouchet Conference on Diversity and Graduate Education. Lect. Leyla ÖZYOL delivered her presentation titled “Reflection of the Pygmalion Myth in Science Fiction: Stepford Wives, Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell” at the conference that was held between 26-28 April 2018.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Volkan TATAR, head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, visited Portucalense University in Portugal between 23-27 April 2018 within the scope of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Programme and delivered a lecture titled “The Effect of International Organizations on Turkish Foreign Policy”. During his visit he also signed an Erasmus+ Student and Staff Mobility agreement on behalf of Istanbul Arel University.
Istanbul Arel University's ArelPOTKAM-Polymer Technologies and Composite Materials Research and Development Centre attended the 2nd R&D Innovation Summit and Exhibition, held on 6-7 September, with the support of Istanbul Development Agency.
The 2nd R&D Innovation Summit and Exhibition held at the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Centre has been organised under the leadership of the Architects and Engineers Group MMG and the aegis of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and with the support of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Governorship of Istanbul and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
During the symposium titled "Educating the Future Healthcare Managers", experts and students came together to discuss the future of healthcare management.
Istanbul Arel University welcomed healthcare managers and future managers on 18 April 2017. During the symposium, with the theme "The Evaluation of Healthcare Management Education: Educating the Future Healthcare Managers", the future of healthcare managers was put under scrutiny. Prof. Dr. Refat Faikoğlu, Director of Istanbul Arel University School of Health Sciences and Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel, Head of Department of Healthcare Management hosted the event that was had a great turnout with many hospital managers, academicians, foundation representatives and students attending.
Fashion Designer Hatice GÖKÇE visited Istanbul Arel University for the “Fashion Talks I” event held by the Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts. Hatice GÖKÇE shared her experiences related to creating a brand identity in fashion with the associate and bachelor degree students as part of the event that took place at Istanbul Arel University Kemal Gözükara Campus on 29 March 2017.
Özge Ceylan ESEN, lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Industrial Product Design, presented her paper titled "A Research on Designer Roles in Industries" at the "6TH International Forum of Design as a Process" conference held at the Technical University of Valencia between 22-24 June 2016. In addition, ESEN presented another paper titled "A Study on Correlation between Brand Identity Integrity and Innovation Capabilities" at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Lect. Berfu Güley GÖREN presented her paper titled "How Important is the Urban Design for City Centres for Senior Tourism: Discussing the Case of Istanbul" at the conference of Tourism and Ageing held at the Instituto Universitario de Lisboa between 25-29 October, 2016.
Gülebilir miyiz Dersin? Tezer Özlü Kitabı (Is There a Chance to Smile? A Tezer Özlü Book), a book consisting of essays on the works and memoirs of Tezer Özlü edited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Feryal SAYGILIGİL, Department of Sociology faculty member and Assist. Prof. Dr. Beyhan UYGUN AYTEMİZ, Department of Translation and Interpreting faculty member has been published.
